GERT RUDOLF

Web design for a photographer · Commercial, industrial and automotive photography · Wolfsberg, Austria2025

Web design for a photographer has a trap of its own: the urge to fill the screen with pictures. Gert Rudolf has been shooting for manufacturers and agencies across Europe and North America for more than 25 years, covering industrial, product, automotive, architecture and interiors, brand image, video and on-location work. More than a photographer, he directs the whole session: lighting, crew, models and production, in the studio or in the field.

The site was built by L’Atelier 54 together with DUA Marketing, an agency based in Bali that serves clients across Europe. It is live at gertrudolf.com, entirely in English, the language his clients search in. One more project of web design for a client abroad, run end to end remotely.

Web design for a photographer: the portfolio has to sell before it shows a photo

A photographer’s site almost always opens the same way: a huge gallery with the author’s name on top. The trouble is that the people who hire (marketing directors, manufacturers, agencies) are not looking for a pretty picture. They are looking to solve a sales problem. The cover of Gert’s site says so in the first line: More Than Photography. A Business Asset.

Right below come the brands that already trust him and three blunt questions for whoever arrives: are your images helping you stand out? Is the rush for content compromising your quality? Do your current visuals do your product justice? It is the site running the diagnosis before the first conversation.

An online portfolio for a photographer: 25 years of work without an album

Gert shoots seven different fronts for clients such as TGB, Kioti, VanDeBord and Konrad Forsttechnik. Dropping all of it into a single grid would have turned the site into an album with no hierarchy, where a harvester competes for attention with a perfume bottle.

Each front became a door of its own, and the “Hi, my name is Gert” section steps in halfway down to put a face to the work: one photo, two sentences and a button. In a service sold on trust, the person is the product, and hiding the photographer behind the portfolio would mean throwing away his strongest argument.

Web design for a client abroad: from Brazil to Austria, in English

The page closes with testimonials from people who have hired Gert for years (CEOs of machinery manufacturers, a university, other agencies) and a form that already asks what matters for a quote: what the project is, what the goals are and the best time to talk. It is not a “contact us”. It is the start of the brief.

The project was run in partnership with DUA Marketing, based in Bali and serving all of Europe. Three countries, one site, and proof that building a website for a client abroad is ordinary work for the studio, not an exception.
